What’s happening in Wexford in September
As the summer holidays come to an end, Autumn is slowly creeping to our door. It is one of our favourite times of year here at Killiane Castle. Apples falling from the trees, plump juicy blackberries ready to be picked in the hedgerows. Golden days to enjoy rambling in the Wexford countryside.
There are also a number of local festivals taking place that make Wexford ideal for a short break this September and Killiane Castle the perfect place to stay. Our top 3 festivals this September in Wexford are:

Write By the Sea in Kilmore Quay
This gorgeous boutique literary festival takes place from the 27th to the 29th Septemer 2024 in the nearby pretty fishing village of Kilmore Quay. Featuring an array of interviews, stories, workshops and performances from novelists, poets, playwrights and academics, the festival schedule is jam-packed over the weekend with something for everyone.

Wexford Walking Trails Annual Festival
The 10th annual Wexford Walking Trail Festival takes place from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th September 2024. There are guided walks across nearby Forth Mountain from Carrigfoyle Lake on Saturday 28th. On Sunday 29th, the guided walk is at one of our favourite locations just minutes from here, Carne Beach. The coastal path to Carnsore Point is stunning.

New Ross Piano Festival
A little further away but still only a half hour drive from us here in Killiane is New Ross town. Home of the internationally renowned Piano Festival, this years festival takes place from the 25th to the 29th September. The 2024 festival features many outstanding artists, including Paul Lewis, Steven Osborne, Yukine Kuroki, Sofya Gulyak, Michael McHale, Eoín Fleming, Trio Rodin and the festival’s artistic director Finghin Collins. A treat for lovers of piano music!
