The Killiane Castle Country House & Farm Experience

We have often been asked what makes Killiane Castle Country House & Farm such a special place to stay.   Though we have never intentionally set out to follow a trend, when asked how to describe a stay at our bed & breakfast the concept of hygge springs to mind. ‘Hygge’ is “a concept, originating in Denmark, of creating cosy and convivial atmospheres that promote wellbeing“. Call it Hygge, Gemütlichkeit, mysig or mattari, a cosy warm and convivial atmosphere is an apt place to start when describing Killiane Castle Country House & Farm.

Relax and Unwind

From the moment guests come through our doors, a warm welcome awaits them. Guests relax into the cosy lounge and enjoy some complimentary refreshments by the open fire, the perfect revival after a long journey.

Tea or coffee is on offer accompanied by some of Patrycja’s delicious homemade biscuits and cake. Patrycja bakes daily, so there is always a freshly baked tempting treat available for guests to enjoy.

Ultimate Comfort

Our bedrooms are designed for supreme comfort.  As expected, all modern conveniences are included as standard equivalent to a hotel room. An electric blanket provided in each room adds an extra cosiness.

Served in the beautifully appointed dining room to the left of the main door, it is breakfast that steals the show.

We pride ourselves in providing a sumptuous feast for breakfast. The buffet table features a wide range of homemade fruit dishes, Kathleen’s homemade granola, cereals and yoghurt. Guest may also choose from our extensive menu of hot breakfast dishes that are freshly cooked to order.

Fresh Local Produce

We use our own free-range eggs, locally sourced bacon and sausages along with homemade bread, conserves and much more. Fruit and vegetables from our garden are included as the seasons allow. In Summer we have an abundance of fruit such as apples from our trees in the garden, rhubarb, raspberries and of course the Wexford strawberry! Our ethos is in supporting local producers of fine food and ingredients from the Wexford area.

The grounds are free for guests to peruse and enjoy throughout their stay, either in a leisurely laid back fashion relaxing in the garden or more actively enjoying a walk around the farm or the golf driving range.

Self-Catering Option

There is also a self-catering option available, the Courtyard Apartments. The apartments offer a little more freedom but also the best of both worlds as guests in the apartments can also avail of breakfast in the main dining room each morning.

History & Heritage

The heritage and history of Killiane Castle provides a unique aspect to your stay. There is an old-world charm about the property that has melded the demands of modern life into its fabric making this a truly special place to stay.  Within minutes, you can leave the sanctuary of Killiane and be in the hustle and bustle of medieval Wexford town where guests can enjoy fine food, great boutique shopping and a multitude of activities.

A Family Business

What brings it all together though is the legacy of my mother Kathleen Mernagh. Along with my father Jack, she created this unique experience with her warm welcome, attention to detail and the continuous effort to refurbish and maintain this wonderful property. A legacy that myself and my wife Patryca now carry on with our family. We look forward to welcoming you to Killiane Castle soon to enjoy this unique experience for yourself.
